Ethics of Scientific Research and Publishing
Publication Ethics in El-Tarbawe Journal
The educational and knowledge landscape is witnessing rapid developments, reflected in a diligent scientific movement led by academic and research institutions and scholars across various disciplines, particularly in education. The accumulated knowledge repository, spearheaded by classified and peer-reviewed scientific research published in reputable journals, has become a true measure of the progress and impact of scientific institutions at both the local and global levels.
Given the complexity and diversity of research topics in the field of educational sciences, writing scientific research and publishing it in peer-reviewed works necessitates adherence to robust ethical policies and controls. This commitment serves to enhance the standing of scientific institutions, researchers, and their research work, as well as the reputation of the peer-reviewed journal that publishes these works.
The concept of research ethics refers to the set of principles and values that govern the scientific conduct of researchers, aiming to instill values of integrity and scientific honesty that preserve the stature of science and the value of research. Based on this principle, El-Tarbawe Journal, issued by Faculty of Education Alkhoms , and in its pursuit to qualify scientific research and elevate its academic standing, emphasizes the necessity of adhering to research and publication ethics according to the following controls and foundations:
- Fairness and Objectivity:The researcher must be fair and objective in their research, relying on scientific evidence and proofs to discuss their ideas and analyze educational phenomena, striving to reach objective results that enrich knowledge and advance the practical field.
- Research Competence:The scientific research must be written by a researcher specialized in the educational field or in the specific field of the research. Writing in areas outside the researcher's original core specialty is discouraged.
- Respect for Intellectual Property:This is one of the most prominent research ethics. It is prohibited for a researcher to attribute the work or ideas of others to themselves. When quoting or citing the works or opinions of others, they must clearly indicate and accurately reference the original source.
- Constructive and Purposeful Criticism:Research accepted for publication in Al-Tarbawi Journal reflects a spirit of objective and purposeful criticism, where the researcher is open to discussing ideas away from personal or sectarian criticism, focusing on analyzing the studied reality to enrich knowledge.
- Research Credibility and Reliability:The researcher must demonstrate honesty and integrity in everything they write. The research must accurately and truthfully reflect the studied case, ensuring the truthfulness of the obtained results built on truthful data collection and reporting.
- Emphasis on the Continuity of Scientific Work:Scientific research is a continuous, cumulative process not bound by a specific time. Therefore, the researcher must keep abreast of all new developments in their field by reviewing the latest publications and scientific journals and actively participating in conferences and educational seminars.
- Maintaining Confidentiality and Security:The researcher is obliged not to disclose the identity of the study sample (such as participating students, teachers, or schools) in any form, to maintain the confidentiality of the information obtained, and not to use it for any purpose other than the declared research purpose.
