The Libyan scholars of the Maliki school of thought were able to define the fixed religious identity in Libya, so the Maliki school of thought became the first and last religious orientation of the people of Libya and the main representative that wove and shaped the country’s religious identity, which made it an impenetrable dam to stand in the face of all other doctrines and trends seeking to obliterate and change the Libyan religious identity. With rising trends and sects, perhaps the most prominent and important of which are the Fatimid, Ibadi, and Sufi Shiites.
Perhaps the most important and strong emerging attacks are the Shiite trend represented by the establishment of the Fatimid state, which seeks to change all the sects in the countries of the Maghreb and Africa in general to a Shiite trend. Libya was one of these conflicts, but the efforts of its scholars prevented this, which led to the expansion of the religious intellectual dispute to A confrontation led by Maliki scholars to preserve and consolidate the foundations of Libya’s religious identity.
