This study examines a natural resource that played a significant role in the national economy. It served as a natural grazing area for livestock, with surplus produce being exported. The area was also used for exporting esparto grass. Al-khoums was one of the most important ports for exports during the Ottoman era and the Italian occupation. Therefore, it is essential to identify the native plants found in the region, understand their natural conditions, and assess the impact of natural and human factors on them. The study also explores how to preserve and protect the remaining plants by urging the activation of local and international laws and regulations, developing awareness programs through various media outlets, and conducting lectures and scientific seminars.
This study will identify the distribution of native plants in the region, map the most important wildlife, and present a set of findings, proposals, and recommendations for preserving the remaining native plants.
